Housing Pythons
Housing of pythons is an art. Yeah. The housing of
pythons has to be given maximum
significance, if you want to avoid the problems related to the rearing
of these snakes.
During housing, clip like lamp with suitable reflectors can be fitted or heat mat may be placed inside the cage.
However, you should note that the light rays should fall only in selected places and not in all places of the cage.
This is called scientifically as preferred optimal temperature zone and this may vary from species to species. So, you have to be more cautious in the housing of pythons.
The lid for the cage needs to be a strong one. This is mainly due to the escape nature of the snakes in general.
The watering trough or vessel has to be placed in a convenient place. It should be easier to remove daily during the changing of water on a day to day basis.
Cleaning of the cage should be easy during the housing of pythons. The hatchlings may be kept in a separate container or in most paper. The hatchlings may be seen most of the times huddling together.
Hide may be provided inside the cage or tank used for the housing pythons. Yeah. This is the most significant one that is to be meticulously during the framing of the house for reptiles.
Hide is often used by the snakes to move away from the visitors or the handling persons. This is a peculiar biological feature that is noticed in the snakes including the pythons.
Many python species need a convenient humidity and mostly, they need at least sixty per cent ambient humidity.
Hence, inside the housing design, place a hygrometer to monitor the
humidity level. Yeah. If the humidity is low than the required one,
the python may develop dehydration
and improper shedding.
Some times, they may begin to show loss of appetite also. Species like Ball pythons are more sensitive to the changes in humidity in particular.
This is because of the fact that the natural housing for these snakes are burrows and termite nests, in general.
The housing designs should also comprise suitable substrate and the Pine or Aspen may be good as the substrate materials inside the reptilian tank or cage.
Inside the tank, even PVC plumbing piles and elbows may be kept during
housing of pythons. Yes. They form the suitable places for climbing
and the housing of pythons is generally given utmost importance by python
breeders.
