Health Care of Pythons
Health care of pythons is an important one during the management of captive pythons. Yeah. If the pythons you rear are not healthy, your method related to health care of pythons may not be a proper one.
Hence, health care of pythons is often associated with examination of these snakes for presence of any external parasites. If the snake is a wild caught one, then it is to be checked for the presence of mites.
If the snake is not eating, immediately don't jump to the conclusion that it has some disease. For example, if the female python is incubating, then it may not have a normal feeding at all.
Hence, the anorexia may be a routinely seen feature in such occasions. So, health care of pythons is to be carried out in a planned manner.
However, the python that is not eating for a long time has to be checked for presence of any disease or more specifically the stomatitis.
This means the presence of inflammation of mouth regions. In such occasions, slippery feed is better than the rough type of feed materials for the affected snakes. Most of the times, the snakes may not eat fully or may not have any inclination to feed at all.
During the provision of health care of pythons, you have to be aware that these snakes are equally prone for the occurrence of internal parasites. Yeah... More helminthic evidences have been documented in many species of snakes.
Hence, these snakes have to be treated with proper anthelmintic drugs like pyrantel pamoate or albendazole. For this purpose of deworming, it is better to approach a suitable veterinarian who is an expert in health care of pythons.
Similarly, if you find any lumps or growths on the body of the snake, take care of these conditions. Yeah... This may be either a benign or a malignant tumor. Biopsy may be required in such occasions to confirm the presence of any malignancy.
The swelling has to be examined for the presence of any sub cutaneous abscess. In such occasions, when you touch the swelling, you may see the signs of pain in the concerned pythons.
When there is an incomplete method of ecdysis or shedding of skin, then suspect for the presence of some disease in the concerned snakes.
If the fecal sample is not found as formed one, then suspect for the presence of some disease that is often related to the gastro intestinal tract like enteritis.
During health care of pythons, you have to note that salmonellosis is so common in the reptiles including the pythons. So, health care of pythons is an important one in rearing of pythons.
