Housing for Geckos

Housing for Geckos is an important feature to be taken care of during the owning of these creatures. Housing for Geckos should be meticulously carried out and needs a good planning also. If not, the gecko may encounter death in a short time, after you receive them.

During the housing for geckos, try to place some potted plant inside the tank for geckos. This helps to manipulate the humidity inside the tank in addition to the provision of natural environment to the geckos.

You know why? The well-watered potted plants inside the tanks help to increase the humidity level inside and also provide little shade to these breeds.

Further, place a bark or stem of a short tree in order to make them comfortable for climbing. Also a small sized rock may be kept inside the tank and the geckos love to climb the rocks in order to bask if needed. Such arrangements may help them to relax and also to hide, when it likes to do so.

Never house more males together because it is to be understood that even two males may fight with each other if housed together. It is better to house females in the tank unless you want to breed them.

Housing for Geckos should not be taken as a lighter activity.

The tank has to be cleaned preferably once a week or some times once or twice a month. Yeah. The cleaning of the tank helps to reduce the bacterial load inside the tank and hence, the geckos may be free from any diseases.

If there is absence of proper cleaning of the environment inside the gecko’s housing arrangement, then the geckos may exhibit thinning of skin, discharge from anus or mouth. Amazing? But it happens and has been documented by many persons who breed different breeds of geckos.

So, before the placement of the geckos inside the housing design, make sure of the need of the temperature level and humidity that is required for the concerned gecko.

The needs of the microenvironment should be satisfied before housing any gecko’s breed.

Try to place coconut coir wet with water inside the tank and this helps to provide required humidity inside the tank of geckos. Similarly, wooden shavings may be placed at the bottom of the tanks.

The tank may be cleaned with a mild solution of clean water mixed with chlorine bleach.

Placement of cedar may be avoided, during the housing for Geckos. During the housing for Geckos, avoid the spilling of any chemical inside the tank.
