Health Care of Geckos

Health care of Geckos is one of the important features that have to be considered during owning of Geckos. Health care of Geckos is always based on knowledge acquired by the persons having Geckos.

Never go for the Geckos that are lazy to move or that have some reddish spots on the skin. The walking of Gecko may be compared with the nearby breed of the same species and this helps to rule out the abnormalities if any.

If the temperature gradient is not maintained well inside the tank, then the reptile may have problems in movements or activity patterns.

Similarly, as a health care measure, place a potted plant inside the tank and should be watered well. This helps to raise the humidity level and hence, the geckos may feel comfortable. The humidity level should be maintained at seventy five per cent.

A healthy gecko should be identified during the proper health care of Geckos. The signs of healthy gecko are given below:

-It should be active and alert.

-The gecko must be strong and easily moving ones.

-It takes water and food freely.

-The breathing activities should be monitored without much exciting the geckos. The breathing should be free.

-There should not be any lumps of tissues over the body.

-The tail region should be strong and freely moving.

-It should be passing motion once in two to three days and the excreta should be a formed one and should not be have watery consistency.

Similarly, the fecal matter should not have reddish matters. If so, the fecal matter may be examined in laboratory to rule out any parasitic problem. Salmonellosis is commonly encountered in various breeds of Geckos. Hence, you need to be cautious in this regard.

Don't use sun lamp or industrial or medical lamps because they will injure the skin of these geckos.

If any dullness or discharge from anus or mouth in excessive condition is noticed, understand that there is deviation in the health condition of the geckos. Try to prevent or reduce the stress causing housing arrangements in order to keep them healthy.

Any injuries need to be attended suitably with antibiotics to minimize the chances of infections. Always provide the healthy meal worms or crickets as feed materials. If not, the healthy status gets spoiled.

There may be weakening of bones, if there is no sufficient provision of calcium and phosphorus in feed materials. Hence, take care of all these things if you want have proper health care of Geckos. Health care of Geckos is a serious matter in general.
