In the wild, dog gorge themselves when any kind of food is available and then live off that nourishment for several days. This dog food sits in the stomach, where not much digestion takes place, and is passed into the intestines a little at a time. In domestic dogs, this behavior can lead to obesity. Some pet dogs, especially small breeds, are very fussy about what they eat.

Guidelines For Feeding Dogs

1. Provide prepared foods from a reputable manufacturer..

2. Don’t offer spoiled or stale food to your dog.

3. A bowl of fresh water should always be available.

4. Never feed a dog cat food. It is too high in protein.

5. Always serve your dog’s food at room temperature.

6. Dispose of any canned or moist food left uneaten.

7. Discard left-over dry food at the end of each day.

8. Keep an eye on your dog’s weight. Don’t allow to get obese.

9. Never feed your dog brittle bones, for example from chicken.

10. Consult a vet for advice if your dog refuses to eat for 24 hours, since this may indicate illness.

Treating Poisoning

itchiness, redness, and swelling can be reduced by bathing the mouth with cold water. A water spray is ideal for flushing out the mouth but do not let the dog swallow any water.

Contact a vet if the dog swallow any water. Contact a vet if the dog is in discomfort; it may need antihistaminics to reduce swelling.

Do you know Iguanas grow big up to 6 feet? So their need also changes accordingly. So, this is the high time to talk about the Iguana care fallacies.

Top Three Myths about Iguana Care

The common myths of Iguana care are-
Don’t treat yourself!!!

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (July 30th, 2008)

A Saudi Arabian official has declared that the religious police have announced a ban on selling cats and dogs as pets, or walking them in public in the Saudi capital, “because of men using them as a means of making passes at women”.

According to Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Riyadh, this order is not a new one this is an old edict issued by the supreme council of saudi scholars.

The main reason for the ban is that some men using pets in public “to make passes on women and disturb families”. No more details are available.

Pet shops of Riyadh ware asked to stop selling cats and dogs. There are few more queries among the pet lovers- what is the fate of the confiscated cats and dogs? and how dog owners are going to exercise their dog if walking them is banned.

This news is quite a shock - and we’re still not sure yet whether the ban applies to cats and dogs that people already own - and if so, what is going to happen to them?

Please comment your views…

Training cat to use the toilet is an art. Yeah. Training cat to use the toilet is not a so tough one. Many cat owners are worried on how to train the cats pertaining to the usage of toilet.

Now a days, many cat toilet kits are available in the pet shops or toy shops. These commercial kits are more useful for the easy method of training cats.

Amazed? But it is true. Many cats when given a proper training may have this disciplined habit. Such cats are highly liked by many persons.

First you have to slowly move the litter box little closely towards the toilet. The toilet or the bath room has to accommodate the cat toilet kit safely. Never act in a fast manner to remove the litter box.

Yeah… This needs a more systematic approach and hence, the cat may feel more comfortable with the litter box moved little by little.

Slowly you bring the litter box close to the toilet kit, during training of cat to use the toilet. Then you need to raise the litter box daily to a height of about five cms.

Hence, at some point of the week or a month at maximum, the height of both the litter box and the kit may be same.

During these movements, the cat may even try to use the kit as a resting pad prior to the reaching of the litter box. Even you can use newspaper or other materials to raise the position of the litter box, during the training of cat to use the toilet.

Each of the perforated rings are removed slowly and hence, there is little amount of litter only.

We have to slowly teach the cat to use all the four paws over the toilet brim, at last. Always try to use the removable bowl and start using less and less cat litter.

Please you have to note that using flushable cat litter is making the cleaning procedures of bowl in an easy manner.

If the cat urine odor is persisting in the toilet, it is not only you but also the cat won’t like the toilet. Hence, the bowl needs to be cleaned well every time.

Try to fill the bowl with water when you do not use the cat litter inside the bowel. If the bowel is not used by the cat you train, then you may have to go few steps behind and again start the procedure.

Yeah… This seems to be the must if you want your cats perfectly trained on usage of toilet.

Training cat to use the toilet is carried out successfully by many cat breeders, currently. Training cat to use the toilet is viewed seriously by many cat lovers.

Babesiosis is one of the tick borne diseases in dogs. Brown dog tick is the main tick causing problem in these dogs.

The affected animals have often the bloody colored urination and the examination of the blood smear help to diagnose this problem.

In the veterinary clinical pathology laboratory, the tick borne diseases in dogs may be found out easily. In case of acute disease, the symptoms may be more evident.

If no therapy is initiated, then the dog affected may succumbed to death. However, there are cases that enter into the sub clinical cases also.

These sub clinical cases may not reveal the typical signs but the dullness may be pronounced in them.

In some instances, these cases may have an entry into the chronic phase. In chronic phase of this disease, the affected dogs may have vomiting, enlargement of spleen, intermittent Fever etc.

During the year 2003, among the tick borne diseases in dogs, it is the ehrlichiosis that has gained significance and is caused by brown dog ticks.

Unlike the deer ticks that cause the lyme disease, the incidence of infestation with the brown dog ticks is more and most of the times, about ten to twenty per cent of the blood smears examined in microscope reveal often this kind of protozoan problems.

Rickettsia organisms and neorickettsia organisms lead to the diseases since they are caused by ticks in dogs.

Among these tick borne diseases in dogs, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is one of the important diseases caused by rickettsia organisms. Hence, tick borne diseases should not be viewed in a casual manner and they need immediate attention.
